Why the name, jvbuyer?
JV means joint venture. It simply draws that everyone joins venture together and collectively buy something (whereas a service or products) at a lower price normally offered to quantity purchase.
The jvBuyer founder is Datuk Lee Wah Chong (Managing Director), who is also the founder and CEO of Digistar and D-Paradise (Number One Eco-Resort in Malaysia). Datuk Lee also sits as a Director in several state companies owned by the State Government of Melaka in Malaysia such as Perbadanan Pembangunan Sungai dan Pantai Negeri Melaka. (www.ppspm.gov.my) Our Chairman of the Board, YBhg Tan Sri Mohd Zaman Khan served the Malaysian Police Force for 35 years and had held several key positions, namely as Commissioner of Police, Director of Criminal Investigation and Director-General for the Prisons Department. He is currently the President of Malaysian Aids Council and Trustee of Malaysian Aids Foundation.
The overall ideas started few months ago when the top guys were at a dinner, a creative guy mentioned that there are many daily deals website out there but why there are no premium and quality products rather than food & beverage, SPAs, activities? This idea brings the management to look at these parts of the business namely electronics, IT products, designer brands, home appliances, limited addition and others which everyone needs it or upgrade from time to time.
